I am looking for a point of contact for Bethel 22 in Aurora or Bethel 43 in Edgewater. I am a Majority Member (1978) of Bethel 8, Lakewood, Colorado and was initiated (1972) in Bethel 16, Edgewater, Colorado. My mother was born and grew up in Jackson,Mo(graduated '81). We go up there and visit every year, since pretty much our entire family lives there. I regret leaving everytime. People have said that this is a boring town, and compared to where I live, Florida, it is, but it also has a lot of history and a lot of what other towns don't. I'm there I am greeted by the friendliest people, be it strangers or not, I only wish I could visit it more often, instead of only the first week of July.

What has happened in the community with the girl burying her newborn and then finding out the stuff that went on with the so-called teacher is just sick!! Too many people in this town are making excuses for the girl and him. How can anyone accept behavior like this. It is time we realize this town and it's schools aren't "perfect". Both the girl and the "teacher" need to be punished to the fullest. When you are 13 and 14 years old you know right from wrong and what she did was wrong and what he did was equally wrong. My heart goes out to the "teacher's" family, everyone needs to keep his family in their prayers. He has not only deceived the school and the community but most of all his family! If they aren't going to punish the girl, then they most definetely need to get help for her, because it is obvious she is unstable!!!!

Okay, let me get this straight, you're saying that the people who can vote for the bond issue are too old and haven't been through the situation. Duh, I knew that. You must be 18 and a registered voter. But here, let me throw this in your face: A loooonnnng time ago, the school had 3 grades and no new building, and the cafeteria was a courtyard, AND there were more peeps in the school, more than 800! Whoa, isn't that something! they had less space, less technology, more kids, and they all did just great. Let me get a little personal about this. I was threatened at knifepoint last year and the school did very little to punish the other person. I have little respect for a school that is more worried about kids being bumped around due to overcrowdedness than having a student be sliced open with a pocketknife. More people will move here, houses will be built, more taxes will be paid, and the school will get more money. I love the high school, but the attitude and the discipline of Junior High needs more work than the buildings.

Dear "A sophomore at JHS", I am a member of the JJHS STUCO. In reading the letter, I find that you are addressing me, seeing as how I was in the paper speaking for the Bond Issue. I don't know how you could say that you are glad it didn't pass? You have lived through it. You can't honestly think that we didn't need the Bond Issue to pass. You must not have any younger siblings that will be going into the School soon. About the newspaper. It wasn't rehersed. They didn't tell me what to write. I'm not like that. If i have an oponion, i will say it, regardless of what the consequenses are. I guess that is a bad thing, OH Well. I said what i said because i thought that is what needed to be said. The vast majority of people in Jackson that could have voted, have never been in the Jr. High when it has been so crowded. How do they know what really goes on? Now, i bet many of you have seen the clips on KFVS-12 showing that our school is Over Crowded. It isn't that crowded, that is just 14 & 15 yearold kids acting stupid. They just wanted to squeze in to be on camera. But it isn't that far from the way it is. Like you, i wasn't hurt last year. I'm a "Big" person, so i never got pushed around to much. But what about a person in my grade that is smaller. I'm sure he got knocked around pretty good. I'm sure he wasn't hurt, but he couldn't have enjoyed it! I'm glad that the bond issue didn't pass. All the kids in the newspaper that were on Student Council who said it should pass have no basis. I was at JJHS last year and personally, I made it through the year without any major injuries. Those are the same kids who will do anything to further the good reputation that they have made as "upstanding citizens" in the school district. I wouldn't take heart the opinions of ditzy lifeguards and kids who wouldn't benefit if it did pass. How many times did those people say the same thing? A lot. It was all very rehearsed sounding and I think they need to get a clue that the adults are a little tired of paying taxes for the prissy Tommy-Hilfiger wearing cheerleaders who will play every sport and be a member of every club that could score them cheap Brownie Points.

I am preparing a history of Jackson and would appreciate some help. I would like to learn in what year the Jackson Public Schools were desegregated? In 1947 black children still had a seperate school building and older black children were transported to a school in Cape. When did this change occur? A Jackson resident, I must comment that the Jackson High School web site is very poorly done; none of the links to clubs, sports, faculty, etc. work. I take that back -- the "Business" faculty link works.
