
What is Jackson Optimist Octagon Club? We are a community service organization based on "Kids Helping Kids" for 9th - 12th graders. We also belong to Optimist International and are in the East Missouri District. We Do many community service projects, fundraisers, and many other fun activities. We attend National Conventions where we meet other Octagon/Jr. Optimist members, and attend workshops.
Projects/Activities we have done: raising money for the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, raking leaves, Docu Drama (the drinking and driving program put on at Jackson High School), Trash pick-up (For the adopt-a-highway program), Helping out Men's Optimist club in their fish/polish sausage stands and selling Christmas trees, Middle school dances, Donating turkeys and other food items to food pantries, Kids Day in the Park and Harvest Festival (Kids games), Krispy Kreeme Doughnut fundraiser, Donating Christmas gifts to Cottonwood Treatment Center, Disco bowling, Attending National Conventions, Attending Adult Optimist meetings, Flamingos (the advisors' fundraiser), New Member BBQ's, New Officer/member banquets, Human-i-tees t-shirt sales, Painting store windows, Restoring the carved Indian uptown, and many more projects to come!
